I’ll be sharing the stage again with the wonderful klezmer clarinetist/flautist Jonno Lightstone for a special concert (and part lecture) at Temple Sinai near Bathurst &Wilson in Toronto. The event is free. We do a special (not very often heard) take on klezmer; please see below for all the schmeetails.
A Temple Sinai Program – “Our Musical Legacy” Concert-Lecture “Not Your Usual Klezmer” Jonno Lightstone (clarinet, flute) Brian Katz (guitar, keyboard)
Acclaimed klezmer clarinetist/flutist Jonno Lightstone and famed jazz and Jewish music artist Brian Katz combine their talents to explore rarely performed klezmer repertoire. Bringing together a multitude of musical styles and experiences, Jonno and Brian create a variety of diverse moods by weaving the melodies of klezmer music with the sounds and textures of chamber music, modal jazz, Indian raga, and down-home blues. The inviting texture of the classical guitar and flute will especially intrigue listeners who have yet to hear the quieter side of klezmer.
